This class focuses on how we can use the Bible and apply it to our daily lives . All are welcome to join us.
The Upper Room Sunday School class began with the opening of St. Andrew's. Its name comes from the place where they first met -- upstairs in the choir loft. Later they met in the old fellowship hall at the dining tables. One of its teachers, Roy Moore, also headed the capital campaign which raised the funds for the new classroom wing and renovation of the Fellowship Hall. Like many of the early SS classes, the members helped each other raise their families.
Paul wrote in 1st Corinthians 13:13 There are three things that will endure – faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love.
On a good day when no one is traveling or sick, we have 15 folks attending class. We are still recovering from COVID absence and hope to continue to increase.
We start our class each Sunday with ‘business’ (our class mission). Then we have individual prayer concerns and praises!!
Our lessons are from the Adult Bible Studies for the UMC, approved by the General Board of Discipleship & published by Cokesbury. Each Lesson has a Title, Focal Passage, Background Text and Purpose Statement. As we discuss what our author writes, we question, comment, & discuss what we have read/learned. This is opened to the entire class however no one is put on the spot. We take the word of God (and the lesson) and relate it to what is happening in this world today. We end each lesson in prayer.
As Paul wrote to the city of Corinth, “the greatest of these is LOVE”. We have that in abundance in this class. Come and join us if you are looking for a Sunday School Class!
